Having taught art on many levels, I find teens can be the most astute art students. In this class, we explore the dynamic properties of oil paint using the formal techniques of the masters. In other words: this is how you learn to paint! Through paintbrush and canvas, we construct a realistic image using lights and darks and color. We work on a self portrait in the classroom to explore these concepts, while encouraging students to imagine what they can do with oil paint. Look what a kid did. You can too! During the course of the class, the instructor will plan a field trip to the museum with all classes, so we learn and grow together within a collection of master paintings.
