Held onsite at the Art Center since 1997, our exceptional art program offers free Saturday classes to children, teens, and adults with disabilities.
Teaching artists offer supportive guidance and introduce a variety of artists and techniques to suit each student’s interests. The atmosphere is welcoming, inclusive and fosters strong relationships beyond art-making. This popular program is offered onsite on weekly Saturdays during the school year. This program is led by teaching artist Jessica Curtaz, a Philadelphia-based street artist and arts advocate. She crochets weeds, insects, real and imaginary creatures, and other over-sized flora and fauna onto the urban landscape, bringing a feminized craft out of the home and onto the streets. Jessica specializes in adaptive teaching methods to marginalized populations, including the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Chester, PA, The Overbrook school for the Blind, the PA School for the Deaf, individuals dealing with addiction and housing insecurity and children and adults with developmental disabilities.
