Composition with Watercolor & Pencils

In this class we shall paint, draw and observe nature’s beauty while creating a unique work of art. During the class we will learn how to build depth, space, and volume, using a combination of techniques with pencils and watercolor.
Student Supply List:
- A variety of simple, small, botanical objects of different sizes, values and shapes. For example: nuts and their shells, small rocks, twigs and branch parts, leaves, pods, bark, feathers, berries, grasses, cattails. If you don’t have live materials you can bring reference photos.
- Colored pencils: Faber Castel -Polychromos , Caran d’Ache or any others that you have
- Hot press paper, 140lb, 11”x17” or larger (recommended brands include Arches or Fabriano). Bring watercolor paper if using watercolor paints.
- Tracing paper
- Eraser (kneaded eraser or any other)
- Sharpener
- Pencil stubs for blending Pencils: H, HB, 2B, 3B
- Watercolor set: Winsor and Newton basic set with primary colors, or any set you have that has basic colors
- Brushes: round with pointed tips. Brushes can be synthetic
- Pallet: a white porcelain plate that can be easily cleaned. Jars or cups for water
