Laura Pritchard is an exhibiting artist and teacher. Her paintings are unique, employing batik (resist) technique on silk. She has attended art schools in the U.S. and abroad and graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Art History and Art Education from the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University. She taught art to grades K-12 at a Department of Defense school in Brussels, Belgium, as well as numerous venues and settings including public and private schools, museums, art centers, intermediate units and served as a volunteer in arts outreach programs throughout the Philadelphia area. In addition, Laura has experience as a graphic designer, art director and illustrator, winning numerous awards from such publications as Print and Illustrators Club, Art Directors Annual, National Geographic Society, AIGA and more.
Currently, Laura is the director and curator of the activist art project Souls Shot: Portraits of Victims of Gun Violence, which matches fine artists with families of victims. The portraits created are presented in a traveling exhibition and a full color catalog is made for each annual exhibition.
