Discover the beauty and versatility of watercolor in this exploratory workshop designed to build confidence and strengthen your skills. Through guided exercises, you’ll refine six essential techniques: wet-into-wet, wet-on-dry, glazing, charging, edge guiding, and edge charging—all while learning how to create convincing three-dimensional forms.

Using simple forms, you’ll explore how edges, values, and color can create the illusion of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. You’ll also develop strategies for mixing luminous, realistic colors. From there, we’ll apply these techniques to expressive abstractions and botanical studies, exploring how light, color, and form can communicate mood and meaning.

Designed for beginners through advanced students, this workshop is ideal for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of watercolor, strengthen their observational and imaginative drawing skills, and find greater ease and enjoyment in the painting process. A spirit of play and experimentation will guide our time together as we explore the many possibilities of this luminous medium.
