Black-and-white photography offers many strengths, from showcasing the beauty of tonal values to evoking a sense of nostalgia. By eliminating color, you can focus on the heart of a subject in its purest form.
In this class, you will learn how to use Photoshop to convert color images to black and white while exploring ways to control contrast, exposure, and artistic intent in real time. Techniques covered will range from simple grayscale conversions to selectively converting areas of an image, as well as digital toning, split toning, duotones, and recreating classic effects such as palladium, platinum, cyanotype, and selenium toning.
