This class is held offsite at The Haverford School just down the street from the Art Center at 450 Lancaster Avenue.

Parking: Enter the Haverford School from the Lancaster Avenue entrance then follow the circle to the last parking lot in front of the glass building. Parking is free. MLAC staff will be there on the first class to welcome students and direct you to the classroom.

 

This multimedia course delves into the captivating tales hidden within the materials that shape our world. This course will include research, discussion, and material projects ranging from assemblage, to collage, to sculpture, and more – depending on each student’s interest.  Students in this course will embark on a journey of discovering where materials come from – uncovering their origins and sourcing methods – with a special focus on our local environment. We will step beyond traditional mediums such as clay, wood, and metal to venture into the realm of found objects and unconventional materials. This course invites students to become informed participants in the world of materials.
