Learn oil painting fundementals or take your oil painting to the next level. Learn color mixing, surface preparation, how to draw with a brush, and layering. Explore art history and create studies from life, memory, and photography.

Supplies:

• A set of oil paints, with at least the following colors, 40 ml each. Good brands include Blick, Winsor & Newton, Winton, or Georgian
  
  
  • ivory black
  • itanium white
  • cadmium red
  • cadmium yellow
  • cobalt or prussian blue
• A set of brushes.  Beginners may prefer a set with various sizes (nothing larger than 3 inches wide) and styles (round, flat, filbert, liner and fan). Chris recommends Filbert brushes sized 0-6 for their versatility, and fan brushes are useful as well.
• Odorless paint thinner (Gamsol or turpenoid preferable) – please do not bring turpentine.
• 1 coil jar from Blick or 3 glass jars with a sealable lid
• At least 2 canvases, 16″ x 20″ 
• 1 larger canvas
• Palette knives
• Plastic wrap
• Rags
• Paper towels

Students may also choose to purchase additional materials directly from the instructor. This will be discussed in class.
