Don’t be confused by all the buttons and menu selections on your brand new camera! Build a foundation in photography with an overview of camera options. Look into camera formats and settings, file formats, crop factor, the histogram, and focus modes, as well as a brief introduction to Photoshop. This class is designed for beginning users of digital cameras; however, it is open to all adults and teens regardless of experience.
Student Supply List:
- We will not be touching on Photoshop, except for a brief introduction to Photoshop during the final session. If you would like to learn more about digital editing, I have prepared a Photoshop/Camera Raw workflow document. If you want to purchase this, you can purchase a download of it directly from me for $20.00.
- A digital camera — preferably a dSLR, mirrorless, or high-end point-and-shot camera capable of RAW files. When students come to class the camera’s battery should be fully charged, and it should be loaded with an appropriate memory card.
- Pencil and paper to take notes. Students will receive downloadable copies of worksheet that they can print out and bring to class.
- A way of presenting assignments to the class: prints, iPad, USB Thumb Drive, Notebook or personal lap top computer. A smart phone is too small.
- While not a requirement, I would recommend four books: “Digital Photography for the Impatient” by Ed Snyder. Under $20.00 from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Photography-Impatient-Ed-Snyder/dp/1448648270 “The Adobe Photoshop CC Book for Digital Photographers (2014 release) (Voices That Matter)” by Scott Kelby.
