Jade Ramos is a legally blind artist who was born in Paterson, raised in Hawthorne New Jersey and currently based in Philadelphia PA. She graduated Moore College of Art & Design in 2019 with a BFA in Fine Arts & a minor in Textile Design. Through art, advocacy, & disability activism Jade uses a variety of mixed media such as painting, photography, videography and text pieces; sometimes distorted to show a POV of certain visual impairments.
Through her work, she’s hopes to raise awareness about the social stigmas that come with the reality of living in a disabled body & cause people to think & act differently both about themselves & those around them. Disability doesn’t discriminate against any race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. It is the largest minority group with the least amount of representation even within the arts themselves & even though she is one person she wants to make a tiny dent in the world of intersectionality, art, & disability.
