“Each time I begin a painting I am looking to create a sense of joy and recognition for the view. A captured moment in time, a portrait of place – that causes you to see it differently and most importantly, with pleasure. I only work in oil, en plein air and from life, though I frequently complete larger complicated compositions in the studio. There is nothing like the excitement of working en plein air, racing against the clock to capture one moment and the piece of that moment that will bring pleasure to the viewer.”
