This workshop focuses on creating layered mixed media artwork through intuitive making, observation, and thoughtful responses to materials. Working with paint, paper, drawing materials, and collage elements, youll build surfaces rich with depth, texture, and visual history.
Rather than following a strict step by step process, youll begin with demonstrations and then receive individualized guidance as you work. The emphasis is on making creative decisions in the moment, responding to what emerges on the surface, and allowing the artwork to evolve naturally.
Each student is asked to bring one existing artwork or work in progress. This piece will serve as a personal reference point throughout the day and help guide individual feedback and discussion.
The goal of the workshop is to strengthen your awareness of materials while building confidence in layering, editing, and developing cohesive compositions. By the end of the day, youll leave with one or two finished mixed media works ready for framing, along with new strategies for creating dynamic and engaging artwork.
