Vermeer captures light like no other painter, creating a sense of brilliance that seems to glow from within the canvas. How does he do it? Through the subtle transitions of his edges. Edges are how shapes communicate with one another, and in this class, we’ll explore how to unify shapes in light and space through still lifes and other subjects, just like Vermeer. Together, we’ll bring clarity and luminosity to your paintings.

Student Supply List: 

• Paint:  37 ml tubes, student grade  Do not purchase artisan water mixable oils.    
  
  • Titanium White, 1 37 ml tube  
  • Cadmium Yellow Medium (hue is acceptable)  
  • Cadmium Red Light (hue is acceptable)  
  • Rose Madder or Alizarin Crimson  
  • Ultramarine Blue  
  • Pthalo or Sap Green   
  • Raw Sienna  
  • Burnt Sienna  
  • Paynes Grey     
•  A paint bag.  
• 3 Jars.  
• Old rags. 
• Paper towels.  
• A small “trowel” shaped palette knife.  
• One SMALL bottle linseed oil  Quart Gamsol  
• One disposable palette or roll of wax paper.  
• One (or two) student grade canvass at least 16” x 20”
