Learn to compose pictures with people in them that draw the viewer in, evoke emotion, and tell a story. Explore posed portraits, environmental portraits, street portraiture, and travel photographs. Review the core tenets of composition, such as how to capture the right gestures, backgrounds, expressions, lighting, perspective, camera settings, and more. Ray will share insights from the art world, as well as some information about evolutionary and photographic psychology, to help you create more impactful and memorable pictures. Look at and discuss images from Ray’s photography portfolio and from iconic photographers. Then analyze your own pictures, which you’ll send to Ray in advance. If there’s time Ray will share how to use Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) editing software on your pictures. This class is for photographers interested in shooting stronger pictures of people, as well as painters who want to select the best photo references for their work.
