Ariel has dedicated her passion and expertise to developing community-based arts programming in under-resourced communities including schools, community centers, social service agencies and housing authorities. This work brings hands-on art education to students of all ages and abilities who would otherwise not have access to the extraordinary and transformative qualities of the arts. Ariel graduated from the Maryland College of the Arts and began her teaching and arts administration career at Baltimore Clayworks.
During her time at Clay Art Center in NY, where she was the Community Arts Director, she created a pilot public art program that eventually produced more than 15 large scale community-made mosaics over 10 years. Ariel arrived at Main Line Art Center in 2017 and as the Education Director collaborated with teaching artists and students to create inspiring and challenging classes and redeveloped the centers long-standing Accessible Art program with new community-based programs and MLAC’s first public art mosaic. Her commitment to lifelong learning has seen her invited to the National Guild for Community Arts Education’s selective CAELI leadership Institute and the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) as a public art presenter. Clay Art Center awarded her for her achievement in the field of community art education. Ariel is also a practicing ceramicist. Her work focuses on human impact in the natural world and has been exhibited at the Hammond Museum in NY and City Hall in Philadelphia.
