Over four weeks, investigate the role that fashion has played in art history. How can we learn about artists from what they depict? What does fashion tell us about larger societal ideas and cultural factors? Survey the ways in which artists have engaged with fashion in their artworks, and the advent of fashion as an artform itself. Based in lecture, discussion, and observation of artworks, this class will foster a friendly environment for learners of all levels. We will also tour the exhibition in the Art Center galleries together as a class.
